If you have some free time after the Christmas holidays, and you are a parent or grandparent, you could help other families with pre-school children in Kingston borough. Local charity Home-Start is offering a free course to train you to be a home-visiting volunteer, supporting families with difficulties such as post-natal illness, bereavement or disability.
The course will run in Chessington 9.30am-2.30pm, every Thursday for 7 weeks from 18th January to 8th March (not half-term). It can be accredited to NVQ 1 or 2.
We have a lovely venue: The King’s Centre, Coppard Gardens, Chessington KT9 2GZ which has easy parking and is close to several bus stops. The K4 stops outside the centre and the 71, 465 and 467 all stop at Bridge Road. Trains stop regularly at Chessington South and North and it is just a 15 minutes’ walk from either station, with regular trains (every 30 minutes during the day) to and from Waterloo.
After the course, you would visit a family for 2-3 hours a week. For more information, please contact Angie Ahmed on 020 8487 8500 firstname.lastname@example.org .
